LimeBike Transforms San Diego Bike Share Scene With Full Fleet Launch

Cities | February 15, 2018 | Share

Dust off your ridin’ shoes, San Diego; LimeBike is rolling into America’s Finest City.

After launches in neighboring Imperial Beach and National City last year, we’re thrilled to be able to offer San Diego residents a sustainable, affordable way to navigate their hometown on two wheels. Whether you’re picking up groceries, commuting to work or meeting up with friends in the Gaslamp Quarter, getting around your city has never easier or more accessible.

“Limebike is creating a more convenient, affordable and accessible alternative transportation system,” said Andy Hanshaw, Executive Director of the San Diego County Bike Coalition.

Mayor Serge Dedina of Imperial Beach agrees, calling the program, “a great success that has been critical in providing healthy, safe and less polluting mobility options.”

Beginning today, LimeBike’s smart pedal bikes will be available throughout San Diego, costing just $1 for every 30 minutes of riding. Bikes will be maintained by our locally-hired operations team, and we’ll be working closely with city leaders to ensure distribution throughout all communities.

But that’s not all.

In the coming days, we’ll also be deploying our brand new fleet of Lime-E electric assist bikes and Lime-S scooters! This will make San Diego the first market in the US to offer all three of LimeBike’s smart mobility options to the public.

You can learn more about each product on our dedicated Lime-E and Lime-S pages.

“LimeBike is leading the way in smart mobility solutions for the nation,” said Zack Bartlett, our General Manager of San Diego. “We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the city and local stakeholders to help meet the goals outlined in the city’s Climate Action Plan and Downtown Mobility Plan.”

We couldn’t be happier to serve the fine people of San Diego, so to celebrate we’re offering $5 off of rides on any LimeBike product until the end of the month. Just use code SDLIMEBIKE5 to get riding!
