A new chapter for Lime in San Francisco

On October 15, we hit a major milestone with the grand opening of our expanded global headquarters at 444 Townsend Street in San Francisco, the region where Lime’s journey first began.

Team members, city leaders, community partners and members of the press gathered for a ribbon-cutting celebration moderated by our Chief People Officer, Bay Area resident Emily Dancyger King. The event featured remarks from Lime CEO Wayne Ting, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and California State Senator Scott Wiener, followed by a firsthand look inside our new home base.

A milestone for San Francisco and for shared transportation

The momentum kicked off just days earlier on October 10, when riders logged over 23,000 trips during Fleet Week in San Francisco. That record-breaking total marked the city’s biggest single day to date, more than doubling peak ridership from the same day in 2025.

This total shows just how essential shared micromobility has become for everyday travel. It also captures why San Francisco is so central to Lime. A city that welcomes fresh ideas, connects its neighborhoods and leads the way in reimagining how people move.

“While Lime has long been headquartered in San Francisco, this new space is both an investment in this city’s present, and a down payment on its bright future. Our teams in California are designing and developing the very vehicles and technology that power Lime’s service around the world. In San Francisco, that future is already in the works.” — Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime

Designed for collaboration and innovation

Spanning roughly 29,000 square feet, our new headquarters supports approximately 150 Bay Area team members across hardware, industrial design, engineering and operations.

At the heart of the space is our in-house hardware lab. Here, our teams design, prototype, test and optimize the vehicles and safety technology we deploy across 230 cities worldwide. It is where innovations like the LimeGlider came to life—our cushioned, seated ride equipped with a spacious basket, designed for everyday use. Engineered right here in San Francisco, the vehicle made its local street debut last August as part of an early global rollout. Bringing these functions together under one roof accelerates how we build and ensures product engineering remains closely connected to daily street operations.

“The new headquarters is where design, engineering, operations and the broader Lime team can come together around a shared goal and our company mission: to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable and carbon-free. We are proud to call San Francisco home, and we look forward to all that we will build from here.” — Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime

Proud to call San Francisco home

While the opening celebrated our new headquarters, it was ultimately an investment in the people driving our mission forward. With more than 1 billion rides completed across five continents, our global reach remains anchored in local teams, civic partnerships and deep community ties. San Francisco is where Lime began, and it is where the next era of urban mobility is taking shape.
