How Austin and Dallas led Week Without Driving in their communities
This month, Lime teamed up with local advocates and riders across Austin and Dallas for Week Without Driving. The nationwide challenge encouraged people to leave their car keys behind and experience their streets from a fresh perspective.
“Week Without Driving asks those of us who can drive to experience our communities from the perspective of people who cannot, and to notice where transportation works and where it leaves people behind. Shared micromobility like Lime can help bridge the first and last mile, connect people to transit, jobs and essential services and make driving an option rather than a prerequisite for getting through the day.” — Lonny Stern, Senior Regional Lead of Government Relations at Lime
From October 1–8, Lime offered 50% off two rides nationwide to welcome new riders and thank those already leaving their cars at home. Whether running everyday errands, connecting to local transit or relying on Lime when other transportation options fell through, riders could experience how easily lower-carbon travel can fit into existing daily routines.
Connecting with partners in Austin and Dallas
Progress starts with local leaders, and we were proud to support the advocates moving this work forward in both cities.
Austin: Lime partnered with Safe Streets Austin to sponsor a Week Without Driving event on October 5 at Lustre Pearl East. The evening brought together riders, neighbors and transportation advocates to talk about safer street infrastructure. It also highlighted the momentum behind Austin’s coalition, which brings together more than 20 local organizations working to advance transportation access across the region.
Dallas: The Dallas Bicycle Coalition hosted its own Week Without Driving event on October 9. We’re glad to support their mission to unite cyclists across Dallas, advocate for bike-friendly policies and grow the community through rides and education.
Sustainability in motion
Across Texas, the shift toward cleaner travel is clearly visible on local streets. In Austin, Lime riders replaced thousands of car trips in August 2026 alone. In Dallas, Lime rides have kept more than 1 million car trips off local roads since 2017.
This local impact is part of our broader effort to reduce emissions from our own operations. In our 2025 carbon inventory, we achieved an 81.4% reduction in company-wide carbon emissions intensity since 2019 and a 77.2% reduction in direct (Scope 1 and 2) emissions, while matching 100% of our facility and fleet charging electricity with renewable energy. These efforts support Lime as a lower-carbon choice when someone rides instead of taking a car trip.
More choices make stronger communities
Week Without Driving reminds us that transportation access shapes how people move through and participate in community life. Swapping the high cost of driving for clean, reliable rides gives cities a practical way to ease traffic, reduce emissions and keep transportation affordable.
Thank you to Safe Streets Austin, the Dallas Bicycle Coalition and the local partners who brought the campaign to life across Texas. By opening up more car-free choices and connecting people to transit, we can help build cities where everyone can travel easily and sustainably.
