Rollin’ With Our Homies: Citra Community Ride in Long Beach

By Janica de Guzman, Manager, Social Media & Content Development

On a sunny, summer day in Long Beach, California, we hosted a community ride with Pedal Movement and Visit Long Beach. Twenty-five locals met up at Bluff Park for a free event to explore the city, make new friends and learn how to ride Lime’s Citra, our newest vehicle that combines the seated comfort of a bike with the effortlessness of an e-scooter.

“Initially I was very skeptical because I was afraid of motorized vehicles, especially the ones without pedals. But it took me 5 minutes to settle in and enjoy the ride.” - Wendy, Long Beach resident.

We made sure every guest was equipped with a free helmet, t-shirt and knowledge to ride the Citra safely. Once helmets were snapped and storage boxes secured, Pedal Movement, a local organization dedicated to helping cities become sustainable and accessible through bicycles, led the group to ride through the city. Guests (and all Lime riders, no matter the city) were able to discover the unique characteristics that Long Beach drivers might miss while being inside of a car.

The sun, the breeze and the joy was palpable.

Fernando and Eva, a local couple, heard about the event through their son. They both have never been on Lime scooter before and have wanted to give Citra a try.

“This was very fun! With the Citra, we can go very long distances and it allows us to enjoy the ride and see the landscape. And it’ll definitely save us on gas!” - Fernando and Eva

Then, we made our way toward Ballast Point, where we ended our ride with an ice cold beer overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Thanks for the ride, Long Beach!
