Electric Scooters: Getting Serious About Safety On The New Lime‑S

Quick, let’s play a game. I’m going to list a few descriptors below. See if you can guess the one that best applies to our new Lime-S electric scooters:

  • Must be 18 or older to ride
  • Maximum speed of 14.8 mph
  • No riding on sidewalks
  • Must obey local helmet laws
  • Almost impossible not to smile when riding
  • All of the above

Okay, not exactly Bill Nye-levels of difficulty, but that’s beside the point. Here at Lime, we understand that pioneering new and exciting modes of transportation also means educating our riders, and the public, on safety regulations and best practices that apply to them. It’s a responsibility we take seriously.electric-scooters-1safety-06So today we’re launching a supplemental Lime-S safety campaign to accompany our in-app instructions and safety notifications. In addition to clear illustrations and a dedicated safety card on our Lime-S electric scooters page, we’ve also put together an instructional video highlighting some simple rules that will help keep you safe while scooting. From strapping on a helmet and navigating downhill, to avoiding obstacles and proper parking etiquette, it’s important to remember that the “smart” in smart mobility doesn’t always just refer to technology.Check out the video below, and let’s all do our part to make sure Lime-S electric scooters are every bit as safe for the community as they are fun and exciting to ride.
