Leading the Charge: How Lime Cut Emissions by 66.8% While Growing Our Business

Four years ahead of schedule, we're proving that bold climate action and business growth can go hand in hand.

The numbers are in: 66.8% reduction in company-wide carbon emissions intensity since 2019. $686M in revenue for 2024.

These aren't just statistics—they're proof that when you put sustainability at the heart of your business model, you don't have to choose between doing what's right for the planet and building a thriving company.

Breaking Down Our Climate Victory

We set out to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030, putting us 20 years ahead of the Paris Agreement's 2050 target. Today, we're not just on track—we're four years ahead of our Scope 1 and 2 emissions targets and two years ahead of our Scope 3 targets.

"Cutting the business's emissions intensity by more than 66% helps demonstrate that bold, immediate climate action is possible," says Andrew Savage, our Vice President of Sustainability and Founding Team member. "Sustainability is core to our service—not a separate initiative, but a driver of innovation to provide long-term value to our cities and riders."

Our comprehensive reduction covers everything from our global operations and supply chain to logistics and upstream manufacturing. We were the first micromobility company to set—and have validated—a science-based net-zero carbon target across all emission scopes, in line with the Paris Climate Accord.

The Wins That Made It Happen

🚛 Revolutionizing Our Logistics

Despite moving significantly more vehicles and batteries to support our expanding global operations, we achieved a 20.3% reduction in freight logistics emissions compared to 2023. We did this by minimizing air freight, decarbonizing port-to-hub transport and streamlining our global shipping.

Our zero-emissions partnerships are game-changers. Between North America and Rotterdam, 100% of our port-to-hub trucking now uses low-carbon transport. In California, we've partnered with Hight Logistics to use electric trucks for all North American shipments. In Rotterdam, we're using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO100)-fueled trucks, cutting freight emissions by 90%.

⚡ Powering Everything with Renewable Energy

We now power 100% of our facilities and shared fleet with renewable energy. Combined with electrifying our operations fleet using electric vans and e-trikes, plus improving efficiencies through in-field repairs, we've achieved a 70%+ reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions—putting us four years ahead of our net-zero target.

🔧 Building for the Long Haul

Our custom-designed scooters and bikes aren't just built to ride—they're built to last and be repaired, not replaced. Through parts reuse, refurbishment, and longer-lasting, lower-carbon components, we continue to make meaningful strides in reducing our carbon footprint.

♻️ Giving Batteries a Second Life

We're pioneering battery circularity through our partnership with French firm VoltR. When our batteries can no longer power rides, VoltR refurbishes and repurposes the cells for a second life, advancing our circularity goals while reducing e-waste.

What's Next: Doubling Down on Innovation

Our 2025 initiatives are already driving progress toward our 2030 net-zero goal:

Closing the Loop on Battery Materials: Our partnership with Redwood Materials is creating a closed-loop system for lithium-ion battery recycling across the US, Germany and The Netherlands. Critical battery materials get recovered and reused in domestic production, minimizing mining impacts and reducing extraction emissions.

Recycling the Unreachable: Through our partnership with Cyclic Materials, we're now recycling rare-earth magnets from retired electric motors across Canada and the United States—helping decouple vehicle production from virgin material demand.

Scaling Low-Carbon Logistics: After successfully expanding HVO100-fueled trucking to over 16 European cities, we're scaling this low-emission solution even further across EMEA.

The Bigger Picture: Transportation's Green Future

Every Lime ride is a vote for a different kind of transportation future.

This isn't just about Lime—it's about proving that micromobility can lead the charge in accelerating transportation decarbonization. When companies, cities and communities act together, we can accelerate the shift to a carbon-free transportation future.

Growth That's Good for Everyone

As we continue scaling responsibly, innovating across operations and investing in climate-forward solutions, we're proving that doing what's right for the planet is also what's right for long-term business growth.

The future of urban mobility is shared, electric and carbon-free. And with achievements like these, that future is arriving faster than we ever imagined.
