Chicago Bike Share: Lime Brings Electric Assist Bikes To The Windy City

Pedaling the streets of Chicago just got a lot easier with the launch of Lime-E, the first dock free mobility service to arrive in the Windy City.Centered around the wards of the South Side, Lime’s fleet of electric assist bikes will help to supplement gaps in the existing dock-based system, including neighborhoods that currently have no access to public bike sharing.“We’re excited to serve communities like the 19th Ward,” said Jessie Lucci, Lime’s General Manager in Chicago. “In markets like D.C. and Los Angeles, we’ve seen the impact Lime has had in areas with limited access to reliable, affordable transportation, and we believe the dock-free system allows us to provide the most equitable access to healthy, sustainable mobility.”
Chicago regularly ranks among the Top 10 most traffic-congested cities in the US, making today’s launch even more significant. With increased access to healthy, green mobility, residents of the city’s South Side now have a way to save time lost in traffic and reduce harmful carbon emissions in their neighborhoods. To celebrate, Lime is offering a free first ride up to $3 to all new riders in Chicago. We’re looking forward to sharing countless memories and electric-assisted miles together!Click to find out more about our Lime-E bike rental platform, or cast your vote to bring Lime’s multimodal mobility fleet to your city or university.
