Lime achieves an 81.4% carbon reduction on the road to net-zero

From the start, our vision for shared, carbon-free mobility rested on two equal promises. One was transforming how people move across cities. The other was decarbonizing our operations behind the scenes toward that carbon-free future, from lower carbon manufacturing and freight logistics to local fleet maintenance. Today, both of those efforts are delivering real impact.

We achieved an 81.4% reduction in company-wide carbon emissions intensity compared to our 2019 baseline across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. That progress, reported in our 2025 carbon inventory, represents a +14.6% improvement from 2024, reflecting a 44% year-over-year jump in carbon efficiency and demonstrating that sustainable micromobility is a tangible reality happening on city streets right now.

Growth and decarbonization can ride together

Since 2019, total kilometers traveled on our vehicles grew by roughly 250% showing that business growth and measurable climate progress can go hand in hand.

Our progress puts us four years ahead of our Scope 1 and Scope 2 absolute reduction target and more than two years ahead of our Scope 3 intensity reduction target. By striving for full net-zero emissions by 2030, a target validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), we’re working to cut emissions two decades ahead of the Paris Agreement’s 2050 target.

Key highlights from our 2025 Carbon Inventory

  • 81.4% reduction in company-wide carbon emissions intensity since 2019

  • 44% year-over-year improvement in carbon intensity compared to 2024

  • 77.2% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 direct operational emissions

  • 79.5% reduction in Scope 3 intensity across supply chain, logistics, upstream manufacturing and other material categories

  • 25.3% estimated reduction in manufacturing emissions intensity across our new batteries, e-scooters, LimeBike and LimeGlider fleet

  • 100% renewable electricity powering fleet charging and operated facilities

  • Third-party limited assurance on our inventory methodology from WSP for direct Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, with third-party support from Optera (now part of Green Project Technologies)

Innovation across our entire value chain

Achieving this progress required deliberate choices across every layer of our business. Decarbonization is a mindset that shapes our hardware design, materials sourcing, logistics modes, swappable battery model, operational efficiencies and renewable procurement.

Throughout 2025, several key initiatives drove our momentum forward:

Lower carbon sourcing

We expanded our use of lower-carbon components, including aluminum and battery cells produced with renewable energy. This shift reduced manufacturing emissions intensity across our new batteries, e-scooters, LimeBike and LimeGlider fleet by an estimated 25.3%.

Cleaner freight logistics

Building on our early EV trucking initiatives in North America, we expanded the use of HVO100 renewable fuel for trucking partners across more than 20 European cities and 350 hauls, significantly cutting transport emissions across EMEA port-to-hub and market routes and leading to a 12% reduction in ground transportation year-over-year.

Hardware longevity and modular repair

Our modular in-house hardware design keeps vehicles on the road longer. Expanded field repair programs enable local teams to swap parts on the street, maximizing the life of every vehicle while minimizing operational trips and emissions.

E-mobility circularity

Expanded partnerships with Redwood Materials and Cyclic Materials allow us to recycle end-of-life lithium-ion batteries and electric motors. Critical materials are then recovered and can be reintroduced directly into the electric mobility supply chain, reducing demand for virgin materials and raw extraction.

Impact on city streets

Transportation remains one of the largest sources of urban pollution, making scalable zero-emission options vital. Recent research conducted with Covo Intelligence across five major North American cities revealed that over 70% of respondents agree that Lime supports more sustainable travel. More than 50% shared that available e-bikes and e-scooters make their daily commute easier, while nearly nine in ten reported adjusting daily choices due to rising living costs.

To illustrate the impact, our riders avoided an estimated 38+ million car trips in 2025 alone.

By removing the cost of vehicle ownership and offering an accessible lower-carbon option, we can help cities meet their climate, mobility and affordability goals simultaneously. Reaching an -81.4% carbon intensity reduction is a milestone moment, but our focus remains firmly on the road ahead as we accelerate the path toward realizing a carbon-free future.
