Lime reaches 1 billion rides worldwide
“Every single one of these billion rides represents a step toward a more sustainable and equitable future for cities," said Wayne Ting, CEO of Lime. “This is just the beginning.”
When we rolled out our first vehicles in 2017, we set out with a clear vision: to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable and carbon-free. To make cities and the people who live in them more mobile and less reliant on cars. Now that vision has become a reality, and we’ve officially hit a massive milestone—1 billion rides and counting.
That’s right. One. Billion.
To put it in perspective: A billion seconds? That’s almost 32 years.
A billion steps? Enough to walk around the Earth 15+ times.
For us, this isn’t just a number. It’s a billion coffee runs, date nights, commutes, grocery hauls, park meet-ups and “let’s take the long way home” rides. Every trip has added up to something bigger, further proof that micromobility is here to stay.
A billion moments, one community
This milestone belongs to our riders, city partners and teams worldwide. Hitting one billion trips proves that shared, carbon-free transportation is becoming a part of everyday life across the globe. Each ride isn’t just about the destination—it’s also about lowering emissions, creating greener cities, building stronger communities and making sustainable mobility more available to everyone.
What’s Powered the Journey
One billion rides mark not only how far we’ve come, but also where we’re headed. Today, Lime operates in approximately 30 countries across five continents, with a growing fleet designed for comfort, safety and reliability. We’re dedicated to innovation and sustainability across all of our vehicles, from our e-scooters and e-bikes to the new LimeBike and LimeGlider, making rides smoother and cities greener.
Stories behind the milestone
These riders show what this milestone looks like in motion:
“When my old car finally gave out after 12 years, I panicked. Living in Los Angeles, my first thought was, ‘I need a new car—now!’ But after meeting locals who’d given up their cars to cut congestion and pollution, I decided to try something different. I hopped on a Lime and was hooked. A year later, I still don’t own a car—but I do have extra cash in my pocket and a good feeling knowing I’m not polluting the air while I cruise through palm-lined streets to the Hollywood Bowl.” – Lime rider, Los Angeles
“I rode Lime for the first time while visiting Denver with my grandson. When we stopped at a light, a little girl pointed and said, ‘Look, a granny on a scooter!’ My grandson beamed—and so did I. We spent the weekend exploring the city, riding nearly 60 miles together. Everyone loved it, and honestly, I haven’t stopped since. For me, Liming started something new.” – Lime rider, Denver
“When I first moved to DC, I drove or took cabs everywhere. Then I tried Lime, and my life changed. It’s fast, fun, affordable, and just makes sense—especially in the age of climate change. Now I tell everyone: hop on, hear that little unlock jingle, and get where you’re going with a smile.” – Lime rider, Washington, DC
Just the beginning
As we celebrate this milestone, we’re not slowing down. Instead, we’re using this momentum to double down on our mission to make shared, carbon-free travel available to even more people, everywhere. A billion journeys later, we’re still inspired by every one of you who made it happen. Thank you for being part of the ride.
So here’s to the next billion rides. And the billion after that.
Because when it comes to building cleaner, more connected cities, we’re all in this ride together.
