Lime Partners With Food To Homeless Charity In Copenhagen

Lime has partnered with a local charity, Food to Homeless, to help deliver hot food, drinks and sandwich bundles to the homeless community in Copenhagen. Using Lime’s scooters and helmets, volunteers from a local international high school traveled around the city delivering packages to over 85 homeless people.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Food to Homeless in Copenhagen to help deliver important food and hot drink bundles to this vulnerable group,” said Jonas Mørch, Operations Manager for Lime. “By using Lime’s scooters, volunteers are able to cover twice as much distance and reach more people in the city who need it the most”.
Homelessness is sadly a common sight in the Danish capital. Experts estimate that there are 8,000 to 12,000 homeless people in Denmark, about half of which live in the Copenhagen metropolitan area. This number increases by over 50% during the summer months. Grassroot charities such as Food to Homeless make a real impact by providing all-important supplies such as warm clothes, sleeping bags and of course hot meals, sandwiches, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.
“Our amazing partnership with Lime and their scooters have been a game-changer,” said Thaiger Damsgaard, CEO of Food to Homeless. “As a result of the scooters, we are able to get to more people and travel further distances to give this community a crucial hot meal and drink. It’s so important to be openhearted and give your heart to those in need. A great thank you to Lime as it means so much to so many on the streets.”
This initiative follows the European launch of Lime Hero in Paris at the end of 2019 where Lime partnered with local environmental nonprofit RESPIRE. Riders in Paris can now opt to round up the cost of each trip to the nearest Euro in support of cleaner air and lower pollution levels.
