Lime Invests 6 Million Euros To Ensure an Optimal Riding Experience at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
As the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games approach, Lime, the world leader in shared electric mobility, announces a strategic investment of more than 6 million euros. This initiative aims to guarantee an optimal transportation experience for Parisians, Ile-de-France residents and visitors during this major event.
Our fleet of electric bikes is growing
To meet additional demand during the Games, Lime will increase its e-bike fleet by 50%, bringing it from 10,000 to 15,000 bicycles in Paris. This investment is intended to ensure easy access to reliable and secure electric bicycles while maintaining Lime's commitment to operational excellence.
A larger workforce
Lime plans to recruit 25% more mechanics for fleet maintenance. In addition, the number of patrol officers and drivers will be increased by 30% to facilitate small repairs, ensure the safety of users and optimize bicycle management in the city. Additional positions will also be created in the Charenton warehouse, accompanied by new tools and platforms.
New charging stations
Lime is investing €100,000 to expand its charging station program. This service allows users to replace bicycle batteries themselves in exchange for 20 minutes of free travel (click here to learn more). The number of stations will increase from 40 to 90 by the Olympic Games, an increase of 125%.
In partnership with Franprix, Lime is adding more than 50 new battery charging stations in Franprix stores across Paris. This strategic partnership strengthens the accessibility and reliability of electric bicycles in Paris. By allowing users to change batteries quickly and easily, Lime and Franprix contribute to smoother and more sustainable mobility. Users can locate charging stations through the Lime app and follow an easy process to replace a low battery with a full one, ensuring uninterrupted service.
Response to Growing Demand
These investments also respond to the increase in the use of shared mobility solutions. Between January and February 2024, Lime recorded an 88% increase in bicycle trips compared to the same period in 2023. This growth reflects the growing interest in ecological and shared modes of transport. Lime is committed to continuing to innovate and invest to meet this growing demand. By strengthening its fleet, teams and charging stations, Lime is preparing to play a crucial role in urban travel during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. These initiatives will enable more efficient, sustainable and accessible mobility for all.
