Lime Offers Free Rides, Events In Support Of European Mobility Week And Car Free Day

European Mobility Week is in full swing, and for the second year in a row Lime is playing an active role in increasing micromobility education and access across the continent.

From the UK to Bulgaria, local teams are holding events and offering free or discounted rides on electric scooters and bikes, giving more Europeans the opportunity to forgo cars and contribute to better, more livable cities.

MOBILITY WEEK IN THE UK

In London, as the city prepares to close down more than 20 kilometers of roadway in honor of World Car Free Day on Sunday, September 22, Lime is offering a free 10-minute e-bike ride to all first-time Lime riders throughout the weekend.

Newcomers to Lime’s micromobility platform in London can simply enter CARFREEDAY19L into the promo code section of the Lime app to automatically receive the discount.

MOBILITY WEEK IN ITALY

In the coastal Italian city of Rimini, Lime partnered with municipal leaders to host a road safety awareness event on Sunday, September 15. Dedicated Lime staff were available along the promenade to demonstrate proper scooter riding and parking techniques, as well as to distribute free reflective vests and helmets.

The following day, the team participated in the Rimini Green And Smart Mobility seminar, a public event dedicated to discussing micromobility and the progress of the city’s Sustainable Mobility Plan.

“Electric micromobility is changing the way we live in our cities,” said Alessio Raccagna, Senior Manager of Government Affairs for Lime Italy. “As operators, our task is to ensure that both riders and non-riders can move freely and safely around their communities.”

MOBILITY WEEK IN GREECE

In the Greek cities of Athens, Thessaloniki, Rethymno and Heraklion, Lime will be hosting First Ride safety events throughout the week. The 60-minute sessions will focus on safe riding and proper parking etiquette.

The company is also offering discount ride codes in all four cities to help encourage more sustainable transportation practices, valid through Sunday, September 22. See below:

MOBILITY WEEK IN POLAND

In the Polish cities of Warsaw, Wrocław and Poznań, Lime is offering free electric scooter rides at dedicated city events throughout the week.

The team was on-hand at the Poznań Family Picnic on Sunday, September 15, and will be celebrating Warsaw’s Public Transportation Days on Saturday, September 21 as well as Car Free Day in Wrocław on Sunday, September 22. Riders who complete the available safety training will be eligible to receive a free Lime-branded helmet.

MOBILITY WEEK IN BULGARIA

To help celebrate European Mobility Week in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia, Lime will be participating in the city’s Car Free Day on Sunday, September 22.

Several hundred people are expected to participate in the event, which will feature Lime staff on hand offering free test rides and safety information concerning electric scooters.

MOBILITY WEEK IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

On Tuesday, September 17, local Lime team members in Prague organized a discussion on the topic of electric scooters to engage with city officials, thought leaders and members of the general public. Dubbed “Micromobility as an Urban Traffic Solution”, the summit included:

  • Lukáš Eršil – City Hall's sustainable mobility project coordinator
  • Roman Meliška – independent expert on micromobility
  • Luba Fridrich – micromobility enthusiast and speaker for the biggest bikesharing organization in Prague (Rekola)
  • Ondřej Široký – Operations Manager of Lime
  • Roman Filip – chairman of the Association of Carsharing

MOBILITY WEEK IN HUNGARY

In Budapest, Lime is hosting its first Hungarian First Ride event on Wednesday, September 18 to emphasize safety, respect and the benefits of alternative transportation.

“Micromobility exists as part of the urban transportation whole, so knowing how to use it properly and safely is essential,” said Tamás Tóth, Operations Manager of Lime Hungary. “We’ve organized our First Ride Academy in Budapest to present the most important information regarding responsible e-scooter riding and parking, and to emphasize the importance of wearing a helmet.”
