Privacy Information for California Residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act or “CCPA” applies to individuals residing in California. Below, we provide information about our practices and inform individuals of how they can exercise rights provided to them by the CCPA.

Lime’s Practices with Respect to Personal Information

Does Lime Collect?


Yes - like when you use your email address to create an account

Personal information as defined by another California law, including government identifiers (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e)) (may overlap with other categories)

Yes - like when you provide your valid driver’s license, or other government ID verifying age, during sign up as and if required by California regulations

Demographic characteristics protected under California or federal law

Yes - like when we may become aware that you are enrolled in a local, state or federally-run assistance program by signing up for our discounted fares program, LimeAccess

Commercial information

Yes - like when we keep track of payments for your Lime rides and recordings of calls to customer service

Internet or other similar network activity

Yes - like when we collect information about how you interact with the Lime app and website and information about the device you use to interact with the Lime app and website; or like when, if you’ve given us permission, we collect your location information and information about the websites you visit before and after you visit Lime

Geolocation data

Yes - like when we show you scooters available near you

Professional or employment-related information

Yes - like tasks Juicers have completed

Inferences drawn from other personal information

Yes - like your preference for when you like to ride

The personal information we collect is for the business and commercial purposes described in the “How We Use Information” section of our main Privacy Notice. To achieve these business purposes we may share your personal information with third parties as described in the “Who Do We Share Your Information With?” section of our main Privacy Notice. For the categories of service providers with whom we share personal information for a business purpose and for the categories of other third parties with whom we share personal information, please see “Who Do We Share Your Information With” in our main Privacy Notice.

Lime does not sell your personal information to third parties. We do share identifiers such as cookies and the advertising identifier associated with your mobile device with our advertising partners for our own advertising and analytics purposes. To opt out of this sharing with Lime and other sites you visit, you may utilize the AdChoices tool found here.

Your Rights Under the CCPA

If you reside in California, you have the right to:

  • Request to know and access to the specific pieces and categories of personal information we have collected about you in the past year, the categories of sources of that information, the business or commercial purposes for collecting the information, the categories of third parties with whom we share your personal information, the categories of personal information we have shared about you in the past year, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared your personal information in the past year.
  • Request deletion of your personal information (subject to certain exceptions).

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. As is your right under the CCPA, we will not discriminate against you in product quality, services, or price if you exercise your privacy rights under the CCPA.
