LimePride: How Cecilia & Jesus are proud to Be You”

Meet Cecilia Juarez, Human Resources Business Partner based in Madrid, Spain and Jesus Viloria, Network Administrator based in Chicago, Illinois.

They share their experiences at Lime and how they feel their most authentic selves.

Can you give an example of when you felt your most authentic self at Lime?

"Every time I speak about my partner or my personal life without feeling judged." - Cecilia

"As an LGBT individual, I have been on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance. Throughout this journey, there comes a pivotal moment when I fully embrace and express my authentic self. It is reflected when I have the opportunity to contribute to projects that promote diversity and inclusion within Lime or provide technical expertise and support in setting up secure communication channels for our LimePride ERG." - Jesus

What does it mean to be queer at Lime?

"I feel it means I can be safe. I work for a company that allows me to be myself, without hiding or pretending to be someone else." - Cecilia

"To be queer means embracing and celebrating the fluidity and diversity of one's own sexual orientation or gender identity. It acknowledges that people's experiences and attractions can fall outside of traditional societal norms. Being queer often involves challenging and questioning societal expectations, heteronormativity, and cisnormativity." -Jesus

What does Pride mean to you?

"Pride is freedom and celebration, but also an opportunity to build consciousness about everything our community goes through. It is and will always be necessary, as it offers us the opportunity to show support for our community." - Cecilia

"For me, Pride is an annual celebration and a symbol of visibility, acceptance, and solidarity for the LGBTQIA+ community. It is a time to honor the struggles, achievements, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ individuals throughout history. Pride represents a powerful stance against discrimination and a call for equality and human rights. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing fight for justice and the importance of creating safe spaces for all individuals to express their authentic selves." - Jesus

How can people be better allies to the LGBTQIA+ community?

"Raising their voices in the face of injustice or discrimination. Taking the time to understand, asking questions and being present. Participating in Pride events and sharing the importance of it with their friends and family." - Cecilia

"Educate yourself: Take the initiative to educate yourself about the experiences, terminology, and issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. Read books, watch documentaries, and seek out credible resources to gain a deeper understanding." - Jesus
