Lime Partners With ThisTimeImVoting.eu To Offer Free Rides For EU Election Voters
There are more than 350 million eligible voters in this year’s European Union elections, and Lime wants to ensure that nothing comes between them and the ballot box.
That’s why on Sunday, May 26th, the global micromobility leader has paired up with thistimeimvoting.eu to offer free rides to polling stations in 11 countries across Europe. Helmets will also be provided free of charge in participating locations, helping riders stay safe on their way to the polls.
“The need to vote has never been more important,” said Brad Bao, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of Lime. “Turnout has continually dropped since the first elections were held in 1979, falling from 67% to only 43% in 2014, and as an integral part of European city life we can do our part to increase that.”
To redeem their free rides, voters must first download the Lime app then enter code VOTEWITHLIME between 6:00 am and 9:00 pm CET on May 26th. Participating countries include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
“It’s great to see more people and companies like Lime helping to support the EU Elections this year,” said Stephen Clark, Coordinator of the 2019 European Parliament Election Campaign. “With turnout having been low in the past, we need to be actively encouraging more people to go and vote - and if initiatives like this help to persuade them to do so, even better!”
The initiative comes after similar free election day ride campaigns in the US and Australia were met with enthusiastic rider support.
