Lime Partners With Yoyo To Promote Plastic Recycling Efforts In France

20%. That’s the disconcertingly low percentage of plastic products that are, on average, recycled in France every year.
Enter Yoyo, an organization funded in 2017 with the ambitious goal of increasing that number to 100% in participating cities by 2025. According to their website, the group hinges this dramatic shift on “developing innovative solutions to optimize collection and recycling in urban areas.”
This focus on innovation is exactly why the team at Yoyo recently partnered with Lime in the French cities of Lyon and Marseille to help incentivize plastic recycling efforts. A total of 200 Lime promo codes valued at 5 euros each were offered to Yoyo community members in exchange for collecting and sorting, on average, 200 plastic bottles.
To date, the team at Yoyo has helped to recycle 82,000 tons of single-use polyethylene terephthalate plastics in France.
“Lime and Yoyo share the same vision of sustainability: one that’s efficient and resolutely positive,” said Eric Brac de la Perrière, founder of Yoyo. “Together we’re proposing concrete and complementary actions to help deal with the current environmental emergency.”
This collaboration is the most recent in a series of efforts designed to support sustainability throughout the country. In January, Lime announced a partnership with Planète OUI to bring 100% renewable operations to France as a part of the Lime Green initiative.
