The most bike-friendly city in the world has added one more mobility option to its eco-friendly lineup.

Lime electric scooters rolled into Copenhagen this week, the first city in Denmark to pilot the dockless micromobility trend that’s been growing rapidly throughout Europe.

Several hundred Lime e-scooters will be strategically placed around the periphery of Indre By (Inner City) every morning, with a team patrolling the entire city to help ensure that vehicles are correctly positioned and charged throughout the day.

“We’re very happy that we can now offer Lime’s safe and sustainable urban mobility platform to Copenhageners,” said Niklas Joensen, Head of Operations in Denmark. “We’ve developed an adaptive setup that allows us to upscale when required, as it’s vital to find an equilibrium that benefits everyone in the city.”

As spring temperatures bring more European riders out onto the street, electric scooters are beginning to show just how much of an impact they’re having on urban transportation. Last week, a new study revealed that nearly ¼ million Parisians were using e-scooters on a regular basis, with 59% of Lime riders reporting using them to reduce their reliance on motor vehicles.
