Lime Partners with Our Trans Home SF to End Trans Homelessness

In 2018, Lime became the first micromobility operator to offer an opt-in donation module--Lime Hero--allowing riders to round up the cost of each trip and donate the spare change to a community organization of their choice. Since then, nearly 40 local nonprofits have been added to the growing list of charitable recipients.
Lime is excited to announce today our new partnership with Our Trans Home SF that will support their mission to address homelessness and housing instability impacting Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming (TGNC) people in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Lime Hero program allows our scooter riders to round up the cost of each ride and donate to local community organizations.
As of today, Lime riders in San Francisco are now able to opt-into rounding up the cost of every ride they take to the nearest dollar and donating the difference to Our Trans Home SF, a program and coalition of the St. James Infirmary that includes Larkin Street Youth Services, San Francisco LGBT Center, and the Transgender Law Center.
“We're so excited to partner with Our Trans Home SF and connect our riders with their critical work to end trans homelessness in San Francisco,” said EV Ellington, Lime’s Manager for Northern California who also leads LimePride, the company's LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group. “Lime works hard to serve communities beyond providing affordable, reliable transportation options and with one out of two trans people having experienced homelessness, we hope this partnership will extend our commitment to the trans community here in the Bay Area.”
"Even in San Francisco, which has long been a refuge for trans and GNC people, our community is 18 times more likely to experience homelessness," said Akira Jackson of Our Trans Home SF. "Our community also continues to face discrimination, harassment, and violence when trying to access shelters and housing services. We're thankful that Lime and their riders are helping draw attention to these issues and support our work to end trans homelessness in San Francisco."
Our Trans Home SF will also be included in Lime’s new advocacy program, Lime Action, which connects riders to advocacy organizations focused on safer streets for active transportation, racial and social justice, and environmental sustainability, though an online action center.
