Lime, Jelbi integration extends micromobility access in Berlin-Biesdorf

Lime is serious about getting people back to public transit.

Following ongoing transit integrations with Google Maps, Uber, CityMapper and most recently, Moovit, we are excited to announce Lime’s first-ever full-scale partnership with a public transit-provider, the BVG app Jelbi, the official ticket purchasing app for public transportation in Berlin.

Starting this week, riders can access e-scooters in Jelbi in the entire Berlin operating area. With this integration, riders can reserve and pay for Lime e-scooters (with e-bikes being rolled out in the near future) directly in the Jelbi app, providing seamless and convenient access to Lime vehicles.

The integration also coincides with the introduction of 14 new Jelbi locations in the Berlin district of Biesdorf. With this partnership, we underscore our commitment to make Berlin more mobile, including the city’s outskirts, while supplementing local public transport with sustainable alternatives.

“At Lime, we're serious about our goal of getting even more Berliners to leave their cars behind. As a company operating in Berlin, we want to do our part to improve mobility in the entire city and are therefore investing heavily.” says Lime GM, Jashar Seyfi. “This also includes the increased cooperation with the BVG and the associated Jelbi app as well as the connection of outskirts with sustainable micromobility, in which the density of public transport stops is lower. The cooperation with the BVG is a fine example that shows how a sustainable transport turnaround can be achieved not only in city centers."

In Berlin, e-scooters have long since proven themselves as a sustainable mobility option. As part of the new partnership with Jelbi, we are once again expanding the area of operation to the outskirts of Berlin, with the aim of providing innovative transportation solutions and providing people in Biesdorf (and all of Berlin) a broad range of shared vehicle options. The new Jelbi stations in Biesdorf also offer the opportunity to park the e-scooters in designated areas, ensuring little disruption to the cityscape.

As people return to public transportation en masse - whether it's for commuting to work, visiting friends or tourists exploring a new city - we want to make it as convenient as possible to access our vehicles and use them seamlessly with public transportation. Making Lime available through partner platforms is a step toward that goal, encouraging connections to public transit -- all toward the ultimate objective of fewer cars on city streets.
