Ride Green with Lime

Transportation is the second leading contributor of global greenhouse gas emissions, largely due to driving. To address climate change, and make cities healthier and more livable, we need to revolutionize urban transportation toward a shared, electric, and carbon free future. Electric shared micromobility can be among the most sustainable modes in the world, with the potential to replace all car trips under 5 miles. That’s our goal.

The Green Option

A trip with Lime uses 75% less carbon than a comparable car trip, and since every vehicle is powered by renewable energy, choosing Lime over cars is always the right choice.

Our Commitments

Industry Leading Carbon Targets

Lime is the first company to set a science-based carbon target, in line with the Paris Climate Accords, through one of the leading corporate target setting organizations in the world, the Science-based Targets Initiative. We're following the science to reduce the carbon footprint of our service and reach net zero by 2030.

A Proven Car Alternative

Our riders have taken an industry-leading 500 million trips, helping to replace over 120 million car trips and avoid an estimated 40,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

Reducing our Environmental Impact

To understand our impact and opportunities for improvement, we have completed two independent, ISO-compliant life cycle analyses. The results show us that extending scooter lifetime, increasing parts reuse from decommissioned scooters, and using zero emissions fleet vehicles are the biggest areas for making environmental gains.

Designing for Sustainability

We're proudly one of the only shared electric vehicle companies to design our e-bikes and e-scooters in-house. This means we can build for longevity with higher quality, modular parts and swappable, interchangeable batteries. It results in vehicles expected to last over five years.

Zero Emissions Operation Fleet

We are transitioning our operations globally to zero-emission vehicles, including electric vans and cargo bikes. We have added over 140 electric operations vehicles in the last 3 years toward our goal to fully transition to an all-electric operations fleet. The result is a more sustainable service for our riders and the cities we serve.

100% Renewable Energy

Lime was the first shared electric vehicle company to power all of our e-bikes, e-scooters, warehouses and offices on renewable energy. We also work with partners in cities across the globe to use locally-sourced renewable energy, helping to further the adoption of renewables beyond our industry as well.

Our Global Partners

  • World Wildlife Fund

The partnership between WWF and Lime aims to promote emissions-free urban mobility and support WWF’s conservation initiatives. It also seeks to raise funds for WWF and drive awareness and behavioral change in city transportation.

  • World Economic Forum's “Mission Possible Partnership”

The Mission Possible Partnership is a collaboration between climate leaders and companies to decarbonize some of the world's most carbon-intensive industries by 2050. As part of Lime's net-zero commitment, we are committed to shipping goods by zero-emission boats, working closely with the Partnership to hold ourselves accountable to milestones along the way.

  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that by 2030 all people enjoy peace and prosperity. As a partner, Lime’s core impacts are in furthering Goal 3, advancing good health and well-being; Goal 11, fostering sustainable cities and communities; and Goal 13, achieving climate action.
