Meet Citra

We’re thrilled to introduce Citra, our latest innovation in our family of shared, affordable, emissions-free vehicles. The fully-motorized Citra combines the seated comfort of a bike with the effortlessness of an e-scooter, resulting in a smooth, fun, and environmentally-friendly ride. We’re launching Citra in Long Beach today for the first time globally in an initial pilot program; and with gas prices hovering near historic highs, Citra will keep Long Beach moving affordably and emissions-free this summer.

Perfect for longer distances, Citra includes a throttle on the handlebars so you can dispense with pedaling and arrive sweat-free at your destination. It’s also the first vehicle we’ve designed that features dedicated storage space. The rear compartment is sealable and provides even greater convenience when you’re carrying groceries, backpacks or other items.

Citra’s design also emphasizes safety, approachability, and ease of use, aiming to attract riders new to micromobility and expand the popularity of sustainable, human-scale transportation options.

“Citra is the latest example of our relentless pursuit of innovation, aimed at helping riders get around cities safely, affordably and emissions-free,” said Joe Kraus, President at Lime. “We expect riders to quickly fall in love with Citra as the vehicle combines the comfort and practicality of a bike, with the effortlessness of an e-scooter. Citra is the perfect way to save money on gas, avoid time wasted in traffic, and alleviate the headaches of hunting for parking this summer and we’re excited about its potential.”

First-ever Safety Features

Safety comes first and always at Lime, which is why we designed Citra from the ground up with safety in mind. Citra riders will experience multiple first-time features for Lime-designed vehicles, including:

  • Front and rear turn signals to help riders let other road users know when they are turning and make their movement more predictable.

  • A louder horn instead of a bell so other road users can better hear riders approaching.

  • Thicker tires designed to better handle bumps in the road for a smoother ride.

  • A phone mount to make navigation easier so riders don’t have to stop and check their phone for directions.

Sustainability at the core
Like every new vehicle in the Lime family, Citra is powered by swappable batteries and repaired with reusable parts. These help to prolong its lifespan, while reducing carbon and vehicle miles traveled from Lime’s operations. It also ensures more vehicles are available to ride for a more reliable service.

Convenience as a differentiator
Citra features flexible storage options to help riders run errands without a car, including a rear sealable compartment and step through frame capable of holding backpacks or groceries. Citra’s built-in utility, its comfortable seat and effortless power are all designed for longer rides, offering a differentiated experience for our riders. Citra helps us take another step toward our goal of replacing urban car trips under five miles. As gas prices soar, Citra will offer a reliable alternative with many of the same use cases, helping reduce congestion, pollution, and carbon emissions.

“Citra will be the most fun way to experience Long Beach this summer. We chose Long Beach as the first market to pilot Citra because of its great riding environment. Our successful e-scooter program is a testament to the potential micromobility has to help get people out of cars in Long Beach. The City is highly-collaborative and excited about the benefits of more sustainable transportation options for residents and visitors, including Citra and our new Gen4 e-scooters. We look forward to seeing riders hop on a Citra or a Gen4 and head to the beach safely, affordably, and sustainably all summer,” said Scott Jackson, Senior Operations Manager, Lime.
