LimeBike Launches in Silver Spring, MD

Brace yourself: dockless bike sharing is going suburban.

On Thursday, October 26h, LimeBike officially kicked off operations in Silver Spring, Maryland. The launch is part of Montgomery County’s pioneering efforts to bring this predominantly city-based technology into a more residential setting.

And for our part, we couldn’t be more excited.

"LimeBike is proud to bring another sustainable, affordable transportation option to Silver Spring,” says Maggie Gerdron, LimeBike’s Director of Strategic Development. “We look forward to seeing all the ways we can continue to work together with cities and local communities to improve transportation and urban mobility for all of Maryland.”

With an abundance of data and a dedicated local operations team on hand, LimeBike will be working hand-in-hand with the MCDOT to improve mobility throughout Silver Spring. We’ll also be making our 240 bikes available near strategic areas such as parks, trails, and the Silver Springs Metro Station in an effort to help residents explore all that Montgomery County has to offer.

That means, whether you’re commuting to work or just taking a ride along Sligo Creek, there will always a LimeBike nearby to get you there safely, efficiently, and affordably.

Our unique, community-first approach has helped LimeBike become the fastest-growing dockless bikeshare in the U.S., and we couldn’t be more excited to get things rolling here in Silver Spring!
