LimeBike Brings Dockless Bike Sharing, Free Rides to 3 New Cities
They say that good things come in threes. Who are we to buck tradition?
Fresh off of last Monday’s $50M Series B announcement, LimeBike is proud to introduce our three newest US markets:
- Miami Shores, FL
- North Bay Village, FL
- Malden, MA
Over the past several weeks, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with local officials in both South Florida and in the Boston-metro area to come up with mobility solutions unique to each of these communities. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve come up with.
Miami Shores and North Bay Village
LimeBike is no stranger to the Florida coast. With a full-scale program already active in Key Biscayne, our expansion into Miami Shores and North Bay Village allows us to introduce dockless bike sharing to even more of the Miami area.
"Innovation is progress and progress means change" says North Bay Village Mayor Connie Leon-Kreps, noting LimeBike’s innovative approach to urban mobility.
The inaugural launch celebration and formal “bike undocking” took place on Friday, October 20th at Dr. Paul Vogel Community Park. Harvey Younes, LimeBike’s local Operations Lead, was in attendance, saying: “We look forward to seeing all the ways we can continue to work together with cities throughout South Florida to improve urban mobility and transportation for all of the greater Miami area.”
To get things off on the right foot, LimeBike users in Miami Shores and North Bay Village will receive free rides through the end of October using promo code “LIMESOUTHFL”. It’s our way of saying thanks for the warm Florida welcome!
Serving the Boston-Metro Area
LimeBike couldn’t be happier to take our very first ride in Massachusetts in a city that Bloomberg Businessweek named “The Best Place to Raise Your Kids.” Our Regional Director of Expansion Scott Mullen, formerly the GM of Boston’s Hubway system, even challenged us to help deliver on the area’s long-time promise of bike equity:
“We are so excited to reach an agreement with city of Malden to bring LimeBike’s dockless bikeshare services to the community. LimeBike’s flexible, dockless model will help fulfill the original vision of Hubway, which is: bikes everywhere and accessible to everyone.”
Malden Mayor Gary Christenson echoed that enthusiasm, saying: “I am happy to have collaborated with City Councillors Debbie DeMaria and Ryan O’Malley to offer LimeBike’s easy bike share program to our residents. This amenity offers another option to navigate the City, encourages travel along our Bike Path and will promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle.”
To help encourage residents in the Boston-metro area to give LimeBike a try, we’re offering free rides for everyone in Malden through October 31st. Whether you’re out for a ride with your kids or just releasing your inner child, type in code “LimeMalden” for cost-free cycling until the end of the month.
We’re looking forward to serving these communities, and many more throughout the US, in the weeks and months to come. Stay tuned!
