Earlier this week, a devastating tornado ripped through downtown Nashville, causing catastrophic damage to homes, businesses and property. Tragically, many people are still unaccounted for, power hasn’t returned for broad swaths of Nashville and its surrounding communities, and roads are out in the area, limiting movement.

Being a good neighbor and supporting the communities we serve is central to our mission at Lime, so we’re glad to announce several steps we’re taking to support Nashvillians in this moment of need.

“We’re absolutely devastated by the tragedy this tornado has caused and are eager to do what we can to help our Nashville neighbors,” said Lilli Kraus, Nashville Operations Manager for Lime. “As a native Nashvillian, I know how tough this moment is, but I also know the resiliency and strength of this community and that we’ll work through these challenges together. My staff and I will gladly lend our time, care and support to the city’s recovery and I’m glad Lime is standing firmly behind Nashville."

As Nashville residents impacted by the tornado work to rebuild and recover, Lime will donate $1.00 for every weekday ride taken through the end of next week to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Emergency Response Fund. The fund will support local nonprofits providing vital services, both immediate and long term, to Nashville and its residents.

In addition, Lime has already cut the price of scooter rides to $0.10 per minute through the end of this week--a nearly-75% reduction in the standard per-minute cost. We want to help Nashvillians get around over the coming days as many residents face severe damage to their cars--often a primary means of transportation. We also hope this will encourage visitors to explore all Nashville has to offer, helping to boost the local economy and small businesses working to recover.

Finally, to support their neighbors, Lime staff in Nashville will join volunteer efforts organized by Hands on Nashville. Hands On Nashville is working closely with the City of Nashville and the Office of Emergency Management to ensure all of the available resources are in place to help the Nashville community in the wake of the recent destructive tornado, power outages, and road closures. For riders based in Nashville interested in volunteering, this is a great place to start!
