LimeBike Launches Electric Assist Bikes Into the Dockless Age

Great Scott! Your ride across town is about to get a boost thanks to Lime-E, the new fleet of electric-assist bikes from LimeBike.

Equipped with a rechargeable lithium battery and a 1.21 gigawatt...err...250-watt motor, our Lime-E electric-assist bikes are designed to carry you effortlessly around town or across campus, all while maintaining the accessibility and affordability you’ve come to expect from the US leader in smart mobility solutions.

“2018 is shaping up to be a landmark year for the global bikeshare movement,” says our CEO and co-founder Toby Sun. “Our electric-assist bike, Lime-E, will provide cities with a fast, efficient, equitable source of first-and-last mile transportation at absolutely no cost to taxpayers and minimal cost to riders.”

So just what can you expect from a ride on Lime-E? Well, for starters:

  • Top speeds of nearly 15 mph
  • 62-mile maximum range
  • $1 to unlock, and only $1 per 10 minutes to ride (50% discount for students and low-income riders)

That means you could ride the 5 miles separating Gas Works Park from downtown Seattle, covering over 320 ft of elevation gain, all for around $3 - and all without breaking a sweat!

The initial wave of Lime-E bikes will be launching this month in existing LimeBike markets, including Seattle, Miami, Scottsdale, Southern California, and the greater San Francisco Bay area. We’ll also be working hard with other cities and universities across the US to help deliver this new and exciting smart mobility technology to as many communities as possible throughout the new year.

If you’d like to see Lime-E roll into your area, make your vote heard here or send us an email at [email protected]& [email protected]. And if you happen to see the last available Lime-E at a nearby bike rack around rush hour, there’s really only one thing to do: “Run for it, Marty!”

...that was the last one, we promise.
