LimeBike Joins Industry Leaders in Signing Principles for Livable Cities

The future is upon us, and the time for action is now.

That’s the idea that helped to inspire the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities. Developed by Robin Chase, co-founder of Zipcar, these concepts are at the core of LimeBike’s mission, and today we’re proud to stand alongside 14 of our peers in the mobility industry as we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable, equitable urban transportation.

Included in the list are simple but revolutionary value statements - things like putting people ahead of vehicles and freeing up data so that everyone can learn and benefit from their insights.

But what exactly does that look like? What does it mean to put people first, to promote equal access to mobility and to cooperatively engage with city partners? For the team at LimeBike, it all boils down to our capacity to listen, and our ability to innovate.

Listening means opening constructive dialogues with cities and universities long before the first bike ever rolls out. It means adapting our service to fit the needs of every citizen, whether it’s free helmets in Seattle or community rides in Watts. And when communities ask us to share our information, it means putting together an industry leading End of Year Report detailing exactly what kind of impact we’re having, and how we’re planning for what’s ahead.livable-cities-1.png

So what is ahead? Well, that’s where the innovation comes in. From new features like bonus bikes and in-app reporting to our very first fleet of Lime-E electric assist bikes launching this month, we’re constantly challenging ourselves to do better.

It’s in this spirit of improvement that we embrace the Shared Mobility Principles for Livable Cities as a natural extension of that challenge - one that we’re excited to meet head on with our peers in the industry. As Gabriel Scheer, our Director of Strategic Development, put it: “They reflect our passion and mission as people, and our objectives as a company.”

In other words, people first. Always.
