100k Rides Later, Charlotte Scooters And Bikes Are A Big Success

One hundred grand, Charlotte. We think that deserves a little celebration.Last year, when Lime was working with local officials to devise a competitive, flexible bike share permit to bring to the Queen City, we had a sneaking suspicion that Charlotteans would like what we had to offer..Nothing, however, could have prepared us for the reception -- or the numbers -- we’ve seen thus far.

To date, more than 86,000 trips have been made on our Lime classic pedal bikes since November.Particularly encouraging is the strong ridership we’ve seen in East and Northeast Charlotte, as well as along the eastern end of Central Avenue. These are areas that have traditionally been underserved by both the Lynx light rail and the previous station-based bike share network. But that’s not the only reason we’re excited. In the 30 days that have passed since Lime collaborated with city officials to develop a progressive scooter-sharing policy, our Lime-S electric scooters have been ridden over 22,000 times. That’s nearly 1,000 rides per day!charlotte-scooters-bikeshare-2Impressive numbers like these, coupled with the daily efforts of our ground operations team, have prompted the City to allow us to increase our scooter count threefold from 100 to 300.At Lime, we love working to address local transportation needs, and we’re blown away by the positive response we’ve seen here in Charlotte. Thank you for your continued feedback and support, and we look forward to promoting even more affordable, equitable mobility throughout the Queen City.
